I love going to my market.
I love choosing fresh organic summer vegetables.

Everyone at the market is so nice.
It is just a delightful experience!

Switch-a-roo

Day 41

I love changing our decorations every month.
I look forward to switch-a-roo.
We get Chinese take out for supper!

July is packed up.
The house is clean.
August's things are set out.
We are ready for Lammas.

Zinnias

Day 40

I am smitten with the Zinnias.

I water them twice a day.
They give me hope.

Hummingbirds

Day 39

Every summer I look forward to spending time with
the Hummingbirds.

I always miss them when they leave in the Autumn.

Inner Artist

In June my mind said, "Plant zinnia seeds."

My inner Artist said, "Zinnias will be beautiful food for the butterflies when everything else is burned up."

She was right!

I have always been in love with
Mary of Magdalene.
This painting by Caravaggio is one of my favorites.

This stained glass window is in the Kilmore Church on the Isle of Mull in Scotland.

Today is Mary Magdalene's feast day.
Today I honor her.

The Olympic Torch

I remember when the Olympic Torch was relayed across the U.S.
in 1984. The runner came down the street that is in front of my house. It was very fun!

I have been following the torch as it winds it way to London.

Fairy Houses

I have fallen head over heels with Fairy Houses.
Just the idea of them makes me giggle.

Butter Bell

I love the way the Butter Bell
keeps my home made garlic butter spreadable.

It looks lovely on the counter too.

Curry Tree

The Curry Leaf Tree is my new love.
She came yesterday.
She is getting used to her new home.
In a few days I will repot her into her long tom.

Murraya koenigii is her Latin name.
She smells devine.

Marigolds

Day 24

The Tiger Swallowtail reminded me
how much I love my marigolds.
I save seed every year.
They are the most dependable flower
 in my garden in wet years and in dry.

Praying Mantis

Day 23

Praying Mantis have personality.

They look like an ancient species.

They are part of summertime
 in the Tall Grass Prairie.

Pokeberry

Day 22

I love the pokeberry that grows wild off the front of the deck.
So do the birds.
We have been watching the Orioles pluck the ripe berries from the interior of the bush. Soon the Mocking Birds, Cardinals and Robins will be queuing up for berries.

Tomatoes

I love tomatoes.
While I wait for our garden heirlooms to bloom

I am reading about this most delicious fruit.

I am planning tomato dinners.

We planted quinoa seeds today.
I am dazzled just thinking about this wonderful grain.

Caterpillars

I love caterpillars.
When I saw this Black Swallowtail caterpillar in the
Queen Ann's Lace I felt hope.

Library

I love my library.
They have an on-line card catalog.
I shop for books in the comfort of my home.
I make request and when my books are ready to pick up
they send an e-mail.
Easy.....

Bindweed

There is a wildness about bindweed
that I love.

I always have a wee bit winding in the gardens.
